Creative Writing Fun at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Coundon
Our brilliant Year 5/6 pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Coundon have had an exciting week diving into a festive (and slightly mischievous!) writing topic inspired by the classic Christmas character — The Grinch.
Exploring The Grinch Through Writing
As part of their English work, the children explored the story of the Grinch and his sneaky plan to steal Christmas. Using this as inspiration, they created their own imaginative sets of instructions on “How to Steal Christmas.”
This fun, festive focus helped develop their:
- Instructional writing skills
- Creativity and imagination
- Vocabulary choices
- Ability to write clearly, confidently and with humour
The results were fantastic — full of personality, detail and brilliant Grinch‑like ideas!
Proud Writers With Wonderful Work
Year 5/6 were incredibly proud of their finished pieces, and rightly so. Their writing showcased not only their understanding of instructions but also their ability to add a fun twist and bring their work to life.
We love seeing our pupils take pride in their learning, and this topic has certainly been a memorable one.
Well Done, Year 5/6!
A huge well done to all of our talented writers. Your hard work, creativity and enthusiasm have shone throughout this topic — wonderful work, Year 5/6!
