Last week, pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Coundon enjoyed an inspiring and educational session led by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). The visit gave our children a fascinating insight into the incredible work this vital service carries out every day to support and protect the public during serious incidents and emergencies.
The session helped pupils understand how the Great North Air Ambulance responds swiftly when people are in urgent need of medical help. Hearing about real-life situations and the dedication required to serve in such a demanding role helped our children appreciate just how important this service is within our region.
One of the most exciting parts of the visit was learning about the different career pathways available within the air ambulance service. From medical professionals to pilots and support staff, the children were able to see the wide range of skills and teamwork needed to keep the service operating. It sparked curiosity and admiration, showing them that with passion, resilience, and commitment, there are many ways to contribute to such a remarkable organisation.
We are extremely grateful to the Great North Air Ambulance Service for taking the time to share their experiences, answer questions, and inspire our pupils. Their visit helped deepen our children’s understanding of emergency care, bravery, and community service.
A huge thank you to GNAAS for an unforgettable learning opportunity!
